Lutein reduces inflammation in TAO
We investigated how lutein might help with thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy (TAO), a condition marked by inflammation and fibrosis. In our in vitro study, lutein was applied to orbital fibroblasts before introducing fibrotic and inflammatory triggers.

We observed that lutein reduced important markers related to fibrosis and inflammation, such as ACTA2 and IL-6, while also curtailing cell migration. The research highlights lutein's possible therapeutic role due to its ability to inhibit harmful processes seen in TAO, suggesting it could be a promising treatment option.

We examined how a living food (LF) vegan diet, packed with antioxidants, influences rheumatoid disorders. Participants consuming LF, which includes raw fruits and vegetables, nuts, and seeds, showed significant increases in beneficial nutrients like carotenoids and vitamins C and E. Remarkably, those following the LF diet experienced reduced joint pain and stiffness, leading to improved overall health. These positive changes were not only reflected in subjective reports but also in objective assessments. Overall, our findings suggest that a diet rich in plant-based antioxidants may greatly benefit individuals with autoimmune disorders, particularly rheumatoid arthritis.

Lutein boosts carotenoids, not cognition
We investigated the effectiveness of a four-month lutein supplementation in enhancing carotenoid status and cognitive function in individuals with relapse-remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS). Our study involved 21 participants who were split into placebo and treatment groups.

While we found that lutein did boost carotenoid levels, it did not show a significant impact on cognitive performance overall. However, there was a promising connection between increased macular carotenoids and improvements in attention and memory. This paves the way for more extensive studies to explore lutein's potential cognitive benefits in MS.

Improved eye comfort

Perfectly! For eye health. I ordered it on the recommendation of an ophthalmologist to maintain eye health. This product has the correct ratio of lutein to zeaxanthin, with an effective daily dosage of at least 10 mg of lutein and 2 mg of zeaxanthin. The ophthalmologist advised me to take it in cycles: for three months, then a break for 3-4 months, before starting again. I ordered it for myself and my husband. We nearly finished our course and I've noticed that my eyes do not tire as much when working on a computer. Overall, the quality of my vision has improved in daily life.

Eye discomfort improvement
2 people found this helpful
The effect is remarkable. As a computer user for over 20 years, my eyes have become fatigued, with mild dry eye diagnosed by an ophthalmologist. Even with occasional lutein intake, I stopped it six months ago due to cost, leading to increased discomfort affecting my work. Recently, I took lutein again and noticed substantial improvements by the next day, including less fatigue upon waking and no dryness. Continued daily intake has maintained these positive effects. I highly recommend lutein for frequent computer users!

It can be taken on an empty stomach, which is very convenient. After starting it, I noticed a clear improvement in my dry eyes. Previously, I had to use eye drops multiple times a day, but now I don’t need them anymore. If my comment helps you, please give it a like, thank you.

Lutein was prescribed by my doctor due to my extensive computer use over the past 22 years. It is three times more expensive at our pharmacies. I take it preferably with fats during meals since lutein is fat-soluble and poorly absorbed without. After two weeks, I started to notice improvements in my vision. I plan to order more after a break, continuing with one capsule a day!
